Activities

Posttraumatic, degenerative and inflammatory diseases of the musculoskeletal system are the first cause of physical disabilities and pain. A major part of them originate from injuries occurring during sports practice, which reach epidemic proportions nowadays and which are responsible of severe functional impairments both in the short and in the long term. Prof. Romain Seil’s research focuses on the improvement of preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic approaches of degenerative and sports-related diseases and injuries in children, adolescents and adults. A major area of his scientific work is dedicated to the most frequent severe sports injuries, which are anterior cruciate ligament injuries in the knee.

Research projects

  • Anterior cruciate ligament injury registry
  • Knee laxity measurements to detect subjects at-risk for anterior cruciate ligament injuries as well as to improve the diagnosis and the follow-up of anterior cruciate ligament and other knee injuries
  • Anterior cruciate ligament injury management in children
  • Diagnosis and management of meniscus injuries
