Research group - Prof Simone Niclou

Activities

Our research is focused on malignant brain tumours and aims to improve therapeutic options for these uncurable cancers. Patient tumors and patient derived xenograft models (PDX), which enable to translate novel treatment approaches into personalised medicine, are central to our work. Ourspecific expertise and interests lie in tumour angiogenesis and invasion, tumour metabolism, and tumour cell heterogeneity and adaptability. Our research group is closely linked to the K.G. Jebsen Brain Tumour Research Center (University of Bergen, Norway), with joint research projects on glioma angiogenesis, metabolism and in vivo imaging, and has an extensive network of national and international collaborators.

Research projects

  • ADAPT: Adaptive capacities of glioblastoma: is there a role for cancer stem cells?
  • METABO: Aberrant tumour metabolism in gliomas.
  • INVGBM: Targeting glioma cell invasion.
  • CREG: Chemoresistance related RNAs in glioblastoma.
  • ANIMIX: Establishment of a national in vivo imaging platform.
