22/10/2020 11:00 to 22/10/2020 12:15 (Europe/Luxembourg)
Speaker
Prof Michael Platten is Full Professor (W3) of Neurology, Heidelberg University and Chairman, Department of Neurology, University Hospital Mannheim, Head Clinical Cooperation Unit Neuroimmunology and Brain Tumor Immunology, German Cancer Research Center.
ABSTRACT
I will discuss challenges in brain tumor immunotherapy starting from the identification of suitable antigens and translating them into clinical trials. Here I will discuss our current efforts in targeting clonal neoepitopes such as IDH1R132H and H3K27M. I will then highlight obstacles imposed by the immunosuppressive microenvironment and discuss strategies to overcome these obstacles. This will be exemplified by targeting metabolic factors but also using radiotherapy to create an immunopermissive microenvironment.
