In collaboration with Comité Olympique et Sportif Luxembourgeois, Martin Zawieja, a retired German weightlifter who was active between 1985 and 1992, will share his knowledge on strength training.

Martin competed at the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics in the super heavyweight category and finished in third and ninth place, respectively. He finished third in the snatch at the 1991 World Weightlifting Championships and won three national titles in 1984, 1990 and 1991.

After retiring from competitions he studied physical education, graduating in 1995, and later worked as a weightlifting coach. He was the head coach of the national junior (2001–2006) and women's teams (2002–2005).

As usual, the presentation will start at 17.30 at the amphitheatre of Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg in Strassen.

The Luxembourgish Academy of Sports Medicine, Sports Physiotherapy and Sports Science is  composed of LIH's Sport Medicine Research Laboratory (SMRL), the Luxembourg Society of Sports Physiotherapy (SLKS), the Luxembourgish Sports Medicine Society (SLMS), the Luxembourg Institute of Research in Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Science (LIROMS) and collaborates with the Sports Clinic of Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL).
The events organised by the Academy are gathering internationally recognised speakers to address recent topics around sports medicine, sport science, physical activity and research.
