Training for physiotherapists from Bordeaux at LIH’s Sports Medicine Research Laboratory

On 25th and 26th November, the Sports Medicine Research Laboratory of Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) and the Sports Clinic of Centre Hospitalier Luxembourg have received a team of physiotherapists and a clinical research assistant from the Sports Clinic of Bordeaux-Mérignac, one of the leading centres in orthopaedic sports medicine in France.

The aim of their visit was to be trained to use a device measuring anterior knee laxity, the GNRB® (GeNouRoB), specifically used by clinicians to diagnose and follow patients after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Over the past 5 years, the Sports Medicine Research Laboratory, in collaboration with the Sports Clinic, has developed an accurate testing protocol for these measurements. International recognition from the orthopaedic community has been gained through publications in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and congress lectures.

This visit was also the opportunity to present the different research projects of the Sports Medicine Research Laboratory and the Sports Clinic and to discuss the management of anterior cruciate ligament injuries within the ACL clinical pathway set up by both institutions in 2011.
