Dr Catherine Larue appointed as interim Chief Executive Officer of LIH
Dr Catherine Larue, CEO of IBBL (Integrated BioBank of Luxembourg) until end of 2015, took over the general management of LIH starting from January 1st, 2016.
She succeeded Dr Jean-Claude Schmit as CEO (by interim), who has been managing the Institute for the last 8 years and was recently appointed Director of Health at the Luxembourg Ministry of Health.
Since 2012, Dr Catherine Larue has successfully held the position of CEO of IBBL, where she focused on business strategy and development of new personalized medicine initiatives. She is playing an active role in key health projects in Luxembourg, and is member of the “Platform Cancer” to implement the First Luxembourg Plan Cancer 2014-2018.
Dr Catherine Larue began her career as group leader at Sanofi, Montpellier, France, in the cardiovascular Research and Development (R&D) department. She then joined Sanofi Diagnostics Pasteur Inc., Minnesota, US, where she led the immunology department for three years, focusing on assay development and instrumentation. After that, she returned to Paris, France, as a Director of R&D for Sanofi, and then spent eleven years within the Bio-Rad group, where she held various management positions, ranging from an R&D department to the management of a Business Unit. She participated in the discovery of several innovative biomarkers and in the market launch of dozens of diagnostic products.
Before joining IBBL, Dr Catherine Larue was the Executive Vice-President, Biomarkers at GENFIT in Lille (France), a biopharmaceutical company at the forefront of drug discovery and development, focusing on the early diagnosis and preventive treatment of cardiometabolic and associated disorders. Her main expertise lies in the cardiovascular and diabetes areas. Since 2006, she has served as expert evaluator for the European Commission’s research programmes, including FP7, IMI and Horizon 2020.
Dr Catherine Larue is an author of 85 publications and filed 13 patents. She also served in standardisation committees at the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) and the International Federation for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC). She holds a Ph.D. in Experimental Biology (Rouen University), a University degree in Clinical Cancer Biology (Paris VI University), and an Executive MBA (St. John’s University, New York).
She was elected “Science, Technology & Research most inspiring woman of the year in Luxembourg” in 2014.

Le Dr Catherine Larue nommée directrice générale par intérim du LIH
Le Dr Catherine Larue, directrice générale de l’IBBL (Integrated BioBank of Luxembourg) jusqu’à fin 2015, a pris la direction intérimaire du LIH au 1er janvier 2016.
Elle succède au Dr Jean-Claude Schmit, qui a été CEO de l'institut pendant les 8 dernières années et a récemment été nommé Directeur de la Santé pour le Ministère de la Santé.
Depuis 2012, le Dr Catherine Larue a occupé avec succès le poste de CEO de l’IBBL, où elle s’est investie dans le développement de la stratégie d'entreprise et de nouvelles initiatives dans le domaine de la médecine personnalisée. Elle joue un rôle actif dans des projets de santé clés au Luxembourg et est notamment membre de la Plateforme Nationale Cancer qui implémente le Premier Plan Cancer de 2014 à 2018.
Dr Catherine Larue a débuté sa carrière comme chef d’équipe chez Sanofi, Montpellier, France, en R&D dans le département de recherche cardiovasculaire. Elle a ensuite rejoint Sanofi Diagnostics Pasteur Inc., Minnesota, États-Unis, où elle a dirigé le département d'immunologie pendant trois ans, y développant tests et instruments. Après cela, elle est retournée en France, à Paris, pour travailler en tant que Directrice de la R & D de Sanofi, puis a passé 11 ans au sein du groupe Bio-Rad où elle a occupé divers postes de management, allant de la gestion d'un département R&D à celle d'une division opérationnelle. Elle a participé à la découverte de plusieurs biomarqueurs innovants et à la mise sur le marché de dizaines de produits de diagnostic.
Avant de rejoindre l’IBBL, le Dr Catherine Larue était vice-présidente exécutive « Biomarqueurs » chez GENFIT à Lille (France), une entreprise biopharmaceutique à la pointe de la découverte et du développement de médicaments, spécialisée dans le diagnostic précoce et le traitement préventif des maladies cardiométaboliques et des troubles associés. Son expertise principale réside dans les domaines des maladies cardiovasculaires et du diabète. Depuis 2006, elle est évaluatrice experte pour les programmes de recherche de la Commission Européenne, y compris FP7, IMI et Horizon 2020.
Dr Catherine Larue est l'auteur de 85 publications et a déposé 13 brevets. Elle a également siégé dans des comités de normalisation à la « American Association for Clinical Chemistry » (AACC) et la « International Federation for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine” (IFCC). Elle est titulaire d'un doctorat en biologie expérimentale (Université de Rouen), d’un diplôme universitaire en oncologie clinique (Université Paris VI) et d'un MBA pour cadres (Université de St. John, New York).
En 2104, elle a été élue femme la plus inspirante de l’année dans la catégorie « Science, Technologie et Recherche » au Luxembourg.

Dr. Catherine Larue, CEO des IBBL (Integrated BioBank of Luxembourg) bis Ende 2015, hat am 1. Januar 2016 die Geschäftsführung des LIH übernommen.
Als CEO ad Interim, tritt sie die Nachfolge von Dr. Jean-Claude Schmit an, der das Institut die letzten 8 Jahre über geleitet hat und vor kurzem zum Direktor der Gesundheit am Ministerium für Gesundheit berufen wurde.
Seit 2012 hat Dr. Catherine Larue das IBBL erfolgreich geführt, wo sie die Geschäftsstrategie und neue Initiativen im Bereich der personalisierten Medizin entwickelt hat. Sie spielt eine aktive Rolle in den wichtigsten Gesundheitsprojekten des Landes und ist Mitglied der Nationalen Krebs-Plattform die von 2014 bis 2018 den ersten „Krebs Plan“ für Luxemburg umsetzt.
Dr. Catherine Larue begann ihre Karriere als Gruppenleiterin bei Sanofi, Montpellier, Frankreich, in der Abteilung für kardiovaskuläre Forschung und Entwicklung (F&E). Sie wechselte dann zu Sanofi Diagnostics Pasteur Inc., Minnesota, USA, wo sie drei Jahre lang die Abteilung für Immunologie zur Entwicklung von Assays und Instrumentierung leitete. Danach kehrte sie nach Frankreich zurück, arbeitete in Paris als F&E-Leiterin für Sanofi und verbrachte dann 11 Jahre beim Bio-Rad Konzern, wo sie verschiedene Führungspositionen besetzte, von der Leitung einer F&E-Abteilung bis hin zu der eines Geschäftsbereichs. Sie war an der Entdeckung mehrerer innovativer Biomarker und der Markteinführung Dutzender diagnostischer Produkte beteiligt.
Bevor sie ans IBBL kam, war Dr. Catherine Larue „Executive Vice-President Biomarkers“ bei GENFIT in Lille (Frankreich), ein biopharmazeutisches Unternehmen an der Spitze der Wirkstoffforschung und –entwicklung, spezialisiert auf Früherkennung und präventive Behandlung von Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen und damit verbundenen Krankheiten. Ihre Schwerpunkte liegen in den Bereichen Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen und Diabetes. Seit 2006 tritt sie als Gutachterin für Forschungsprogramme der Europäischen Kommission, einschließlich FP7, IMI und Horizon 2020, auf.
Dr. Catherine Larue ist Autorin von 85 Publikationen und 13 Patenteinreichungen. Sie fungierte zudem in Standardisierungsgremien der „American Association for Clinical Chemistry“ (AACC) und der „International Federation for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine” (IFCC).
