Prof Ulf Nehrbass, CEO of LIH, and Prof Laetitia Huiart, Director of the Department of Population Health, have been appointed as affiliated professors at the University of Luxembourg. This three-year term engagement aims to strengthen the cooperation between the university and LIH.
The affiliated professorship at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication allows the two directors to tighten their links with the research groups at the university by setting up new collaborations, jointly develop research topics and also actively contribute to doctoral education by the supervision of PhD candidates.
Prof Ulf Nehrbass is part of the interdisciplinary Doctoral Training Unit “PARK-QC - Molecular, Organellar and Cellular Quality Control in Parkinson's disease and Other Neurodegenerative Diseases” funded by the PRIDE scheme of the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) and coordinated by the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) of the University of Luxembourg. In this doctoral programme he supervises one doctoral candidate.
Prof Laetitia Huiart also currently supervises one PhD project in the field of e-health. ‘I am eager to participate to the development of innovative research in Public Health and epidemiology with a focus on digital epidemiology in large databases and e-health interventions to promote better health in Luxembourg’, states Prof Huiart. The department director already holds a full professorship in Public Health from France. ‘My Medical Degree and my former experience of shaping a medical curriculum at the University of Reunion Island could also be beneficial for the programme of the medical school in Luxembourg.’
